A SACRED TASK: DO THIS
As we continue to prayerfully monitor and lovingly respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, we do so seeking always to be a Christ-honoring community committed to the well-being of all. As a community of faith, this commitment includes protecting the most vulnerable as a living sign of God’s Love. With this in focus, here are the most recent steps we, FBCS, are taking to support our commitment to this priority.
We will NOT be offering services on the FBCS campus throughout the month of April. We WILL, however, continue streaming worship via Facebook Live each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. While this is not how we ever envisioned we would “do” worship on any Palm Sunday or Easter, it is the loving thing to do at this time. Please join in these online gatherings. The audio of each service will also be recorded and later posted on Sound Cloud. The status of future gatherings will be determined with wisdom and compassion as these days continue to unfold. Until then, please join us live, Sundays, 11:00 a.m. for Gathered Worship using this link:
FRIDAY BIBLE STUDY
Each Friday in April you are invited to participate in a Bible Study following the “Dwelling in the Word” model. Focusing on one of the scripture texts for the week, we will meet at 10:00 a.m. on April 3, 10, 17, and 24 using the Zoom platform. The meeting link will be made available each week using email and the FBCS Facebook page. Join us as we listen to the Spirit’s guidance in God’s Word and God’s people together.
CARING FOR OTHERS
Please continue to pray for one other. And for this world God so loves. And pick up the phone. Call someone to see how they are faring during this challenging season; check in with those who may be particularly vulnerable to the effects of the virus.
Going to the grocery store? Offer to shop for someone who is practicing more stringent personal safety precautions due to their heightened vulnerability to infection. Or offer to pick something up for a fellow FBCS friend.
In a time of uncertainty, FBCS needs pastoral presence. Therefore, from a place of deep love and faithfulness, I have moved the time of my retirement from pastoral ministry. My last Sunday as your pastor will now be in June and will be determined in coordination with the interim pastor. Please know that the Great Shepherd, and I, his servant, have your back. Grace and Peace, Pastor Jeff
Holy Week Opportunities at FBCS
Thursday, April 9, you are invited to join together on Zoom at 6:00 p.m. for a shared communion service. To participate, each household is asked to bring their own bread and cup to the shared table. A Zoom link will be provided.
Friday, April 10, a brief service of scripture, prayer, and shrouding of the cross will be shared at 3:00 p.m. via Facebook Live. To participate, use the same link as that provided for Sunday worship (easy access from our Homepage).
Saturday, April 11, those wishing to provide flowers for the Easter cross will have two means of doing so: (1) drop by the FBCS worship center and place them in the buckets provided or (2) contact the FBCS office to arrange for doorstep pickup.
